Clash of Clans - Basic base defence guide

Here is my 2 cents on defensing my base from invader. Read it as reference and I hope it helps you.

Priority What You Want To Protect

So firstly, I would priority which are the buildings I would want to defend the most. I am currently at level 24. Here is the typical order for me:
  1. Town Hall
  2. Gold Storage/Elixir Storage (Swap with towers if not filled)
  3. Mortar/Wizard Tower/Air Defense
  4. Cannon/Archer Tower
  5. Walls
  6. The rest of the other buildings

Protecting Your Most Important Buildings

I want to protect my Town Hall. Here, I used towers and storage as the first layer of defense (Layer 1), followed by a layer of wall (Layer 2) and lastly other buildings at the last layer of defense (Layer 3). Refer to the image for more details.

You could use a layer of walls around your town hall first. This would give an addition layer of protection, delaying the melee troops(barbarians or giants) to reach your town hall while your defense towers take them out. Any invaders will need to demolish the defense tower and the walls before reaching your town hall. If you do not have enough walls, you could go with defense towers and storage as the first layer; like what I did.

Referencing the above image, for the invaders to reach the town hall, they will need to break through the 3 layers before reaching my town hall. Hopeful before they could even do so, my towers could clear them first. Experienced invaders will use some strategy to over run my defense. Like using lots of Giants, or timely deploying barbarian to be targeted by my towers while protecting their archers who are taking out my towers.

Extending Your Boundary

When you place your buildings, you are actually drawing a boundary around your base. A good range of boundary will take the invaders more time to travel inwards. The invaders can only deploy outside of the boundary. You can shift your building and the boundary will be shown for a mere 2 seconds before fading off. Be careful not to leave any gaps in your boundary. Invaders would usually leverage on that mistake and break your defense. Unless you are plotting a trap for the invaders.

I used some walls to extended the boundary. Each building will have a 1 tile radius of boundary. Reference the image to see how I put my spare walls to fully use to extend my boundary.

To see your boundary indicator, adjust any buildings. You will be able to see it for 2 seconds before it fades off.

Other pointers to take note

Fully joined your wall and leave no gaps, especially at the corners, the invaders will pass through it to hit your building instead of breaking through the walls. If the gap is not within the invaders traveling radius, it will break the nearest wall to reach your building.
